## Menu

There is no fixed published menu: the kitchen buys fish and vegetables fresh each morning and writes the day's dishes on a blackboard at the entrance. To find out what is on today, call the restaurant or ask at the table. What is always available:

- The pizza: It is how a lot of Berliners found this courtyard in the first place — and the reason they keep coming back. It has never left the menu and it is not going to.
- House-made pasta: Rolled in house every day: tagliatelle, ravioli, gnocchi, depending on what the season asks for. The sauces change with the market; the technique doesn't.
- The fish: It arrives fresh and it dictates the evening's menu. Sometimes a whole sea bass from the oven, sometimes a fritto, sometimes served raw. We don't freeze it and we don't keep it for the next day.
- The meat: Selected cuts on the grill, simple cooking, sides that don't get in the way. The steaks have been here for decades and are still among the most ordered things in the courtyard.
- The garden: Vegetarian and vegan dishes that aren't an afterthought: seasonal vegetables treated with the same care as everything else. Ask at the table — the day's choice is almost always wider than what's written down.
- The cellar: Italian wines chosen region by region, prosecco always on ice, beer on tap and coffee made properly. And gelato, which in the courtyard in summer is close to compulsory.

Dietary: vegetarian and vegan dishes are always available; children's portions and high chairs available. Gluten-free pizza is NOT offered. The kitchen is not a fully allergen-free environment — guests with allergies should say so when booking.

## Spaces

- The Hof (110 seats, April – October): The courtyard under the trees. Best for: Summer evenings, long lunches, families.
- The historic dining room (50 seats, All year): Where it all started in 1977. Best for: Dinner for two, winter, rainy nights.
- The summer garden (40 seats, May – September): Ivy walls and white chairs. Best for: Aperitivo, groups, lunch in the sun.
- The winter garden (50 seats, All year): Covered, heated, open almost always. Best for: Private parties, winter, larger groups.

Seating preferences can be given when booking but are not guaranteed.

## Events

- Long tables and birthdays (10 – 40 people): One long table in the courtyard or the winter garden, a menu agreed in advance, and service that doesn't rush you. The format people ask for most.
- Company dinners and teams (20 – 50 people): Business lunches, end-of-year dinners, team dinners. We can hold an entire area and agree a set menu with vegetarian and vegan options.
- Weddings and private parties (up to 250 people): The whole courtyard and all four spaces, exclusively yours. Trees, hanging lights, a kitchen open until late. One of the loveliest settings in Kreuzberg — without having to build it first.

## Common questions

**Where exactly is Osteria N.1?**

At Kreuzbergstraße 71, 10965 Berlin, in the Kreuzberg district, on the quiet side of Viktoriapark. The restaurant isn't on the street: you come in through the gate with the green sign, and the courtyard is behind the building. It's about a ten-minute walk from Mehringdamm U-Bahn station and about twelve from Platz der Luftbrücke.

**What are the opening hours?**

We're open every day, from 12:00 to midnight, public holidays included. The kitchen stays open for the whole service, so you can eat in the afternoon or late at night too.

**Do I need to book?**

It isn't required, but it is recommended — especially Thursday to Sunday and on any summer evening, when the courtyard fills up early. You can book on this site or call +49 (30) 5779 2999.

**Why isn't the menu published on the website?**

Because it changes every day. We buy fish and vegetables fresh in the morning and decide the dishes based on what arrives. The day's menu is written on the blackboard at the entrance, and we'll talk you through it at the table. The constants — pizza, house-made pasta, fresh fish, grilled meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes — are always there.

**What kind of cooking do you do?**

Italian cooking, without reinvention. Pizza, pasta rolled in house every day, fresh fish, grilled meat, Italian antipasti and desserts. The wine is Italian, chosen region by region.

**Are there vegetarian and vegan options?**

Yes, always — and not as an afterthought: seasonal vegetables are at the centre of a good part of the daily menu. Mention it when you sit down and we'll tell you every option available that day, often more than the written ones.

**Are there gluten-free options?**

We do not make gluten-free pizza. If you have an allergy or an intolerance, tell us when you book or at the table and we will be straight with you about what we can serve you that day and what we can't.

**Can we eat outside?**

Yes, and it's the main reason people come here. We have a tree-filled inner courtyard (the Hof), a summer garden, and a covered, heated winter garden that lets you sit outside almost all year.

**Is it good for children?**

Very. In the courtyard children play while the adults stay at the table; there are high chairs and portions made for them. In the afternoons and on Sundays the Hof is full of families from the neighbourhood.

**Are dogs welcome?**

Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome in the courtyard and the outdoor gardens. We'll happily bring a bowl of water.

**Can we hold private parties and events?**

Yes. The winter garden suits groups of up to fifty, and for weddings or larger parties the whole courtyard can be taken exclusively for up to two hundred and fifty. Write to info@osteria-uno.eu with the date, the number of people and the kind of occasion.

**How much does it cost?**

We're a neighbourhood trattoria, not a special-occasion restaurant: mid-range prices. You can eat a pizza with a glass of wine, or have the full run of antipasto, pasta, main course and dessert.

**Do you take cards?**

Yes, we accept the major credit and debit cards as well as cash.

**Is there parking?**

There's free street parking on Kreuzbergstraße and the side streets, though finding a space at peak times takes patience. In the evening the U-Bahn is easier: U6 and U7 at Mehringdamm, U6 at Platz der Luftbrücke.
